Scholars take double blocks of math instruction with an emphasis on financial literacy every day. Since the majority of our students come to us behind grade level, these double blocks allow them to remediate skills while exposing them advanced material and helping them exceed the expectations of grade-level standards.
Grizzlies Prep mathematics curriculum focuses on developing skills and mastery in their mathematical abilities so that they may become successful problem solvers. The math program will include two periods per day – one dedicated to core content and a second dedicated to inquiry embedded math and financial literacy. The goals of mathematics are based on the Tennessee state standards and national core content standards. Math courses will provide the necessary foundation in all 5 strands: mathematical processes, numbers and operations, algebra, geometry and measurement and data analysis, probability and statistics. Algebra will be offered in grade 8. Teachers will develop lesson plans and sequencing documents that include 3 major parts:
- Grade Level Expectations or Course Level Expectations
- Checks for Understanding
- State Performance Indicators
